About me

My name is Karin Flückiger. I grew up in the German part of Switzerland and am living in the Netherlands since 1999. German is my native language.
Since 2002 I have been working as freelance translator for the language combinations English>German and Dutch>German.
Recently I have mainly been translating subtitles for Hollywoodfilms, documentaries and business videos.
I am also experienced in tourism and am responsible for the correspondence of an orthopaedic company. (see fields of expertise for more)

It's my ambition to do my work carefully, fast and on time. I always look for the best solution to maintain the original meaning and to reproduce it in the particular linguistic context.

Translation Experience

Since 2002 I am working as a freelance translator for the language combinations English>German and Dutch>German.

During that period I have been working for many clients in various areas of expertise. I shall only name a selection of the jobs that seem the most relevant to me.

Subtitling

· Translation, proofreading and Image Quality Control for Hollywoodfilms (EN>GE)

· Subtitle translation for documentaries (for example about Albert Schweitzer’s life) (EN>GE)

· Translation of subtitles for several business videos (for example about the history of a company in the metal industry) (EN>GE and DU>GE)

Correspondence

Since 2004 I am responsible for the translation of the correspondence of an orthopedic company in the Netherlands that is doing business with Austria and Germany. (DU>GE)
